Camper
Eligibility
Ethos Music Camp is open to all students
ages 6-12. (Students should have
prior experience with full day school or daycare). Students will be assigned to smaller
groups according to age, ability, and instrument
of choice.
Camp Format
Camp sessions are from 9am-5pm Monday through
Friday. The camp is open to students of all
abilities. Different instruments are
featured each session - see above. Each student chooses
a primary instrument to focus on during the week.
Students study technique, rhythm and music theory
while learning performance pieces and preparing
for the final recital. Additional activities
include choir class, guest performers and art
activities, as well as outdoor sports and games including
basketball, soccer, kickball, hoola hoop and
numerous other fun athletic activities.
Numbers are limited, so early registration is
encouraged. Instrument classes will have a
low student to teacher ratio (no more than 6
students per instructor).
Cost of Camp
The cost per child is $225 (plus a $5
charge for online applications). Scholarships are
available based on demonstrated financial need.
Students eligible for Reduced Lunch pay $135, and
students eligible for Free Lunch pay $75. Because of a limited number of spaces, students
can sign up for a maximum of two camps per summer.
Registration and scholarship applications must be
received by June 2, 2008.
What to Wear
and What to Eat
Campers should wear comfortable gym /
tennis shoes and clothing suitable for everyday
recreational play. Please bring sunscreen
and a sweatshirt or
coat as some activities may be held outside.
Students must bring their own sack lunches.
Snacks will be provided, but students should bring
their own snacks if they have special dietary
considerations.
Afternoon
Activities
In addition to their regular music classes,
Ethos student campers will be treated to a number
of incredible concerts and presentations. In
previous years students have had concerts from
performers in African Drumming, Blues, Jazz, and
Brazilian Drumming.
